Amilani envisions elusive links between fashion and culture and history in her ready- to-wear self-titled exotic luxury fashion brand ‘AMILANI PERERA’ which was successfully launched in Colombo Fashion Week 2013 and has been consecutively showcasing at Colombo Fashion Week till date. She also has her own collection of designer bridals, creating unique, conceptual yet wearable high-end design pieces which are detailed in luxurious and sophisticated sense of style. Her designer pieces are currently exclusively retailing at Melaché fashion boutique, Colombo 04, Sri Lanka.
Having graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Fashion & Textile Design, from LASALLE College of Arts, Singapore in the year 2009, Amilani gained exposure in the Sri Lankan apparel industry, being employed at MAS Holdings, as a lingerie designer, for Amanté, for four years. Her designs have also been showcased at the Sri Lanka Design Festival fashion show in 2010, 2011, and 2012 under the MAS Intimates Segment. Amilani is currently a design consultant for the “Hanes” Lingerie at Arvind Lifestyle Brands Limited, India.
Amilani emerged as a finalist in the British Council's Young Creative Entrepreneur Design and Fashion Award in 2012 and in the Sri Lanka Fashion and Apparel Awards 2013 under the award categories, "Industry Young Blood" and "Sustainable Fashion." Her collection, ‘Marked Memoirs’ was featured in the Swankglossy Magazine Indonesia in 2009 bringing her international recognition and exposure. She was also in the top ten finalists of the competition held in Singapore, titled ‘Denim Deconstruction’ project, which was organized by GAS Jeans and Catalogue Fashion Magazine in 2006. Her designs were also featured in the Catalogue Fashion Magazine that season.
Amilani also has a sub-brand, named‘Once more’ by amilani perera, which is an eco- sustainability label with a clothing line in fabrics made out of natural products and also an accessory line made with up-cycle materials to create innovative fashion designer accessory products.
